The texts from job/sale section from a Korean magazine
Texts hold information and power that strongly guides its viewer to certain perspectives. In this projection piece, I gathered texts from job/sale section of a Korean American magazine and arranged them with quick, repetitive rhythms. By its presentation, I aim to depict the busy-natured lives of immigrants and question their disconnection - or intimacy within - from American society because of language differences. This curiosity has led to me with new experimentation: a purposeful act of cutting the accessibility of my art to the viewers. Questioning the validity of such act makes, as I observe, an inevitable discussion of cultural value and identity to American viewers. I wonder, does cultural subject matter of art always justify the inaccessibility that follows?
