There are three main ways -and more- for immigrants to get green cards in the US: through family, employment, or special status. My family lived and worked in Mississippi for a year when I was 8 and I was the only Asian kids in my grade. There are photos from that period in my mother's hard drive that I do not remember being taken. One of those photos with my then-friend inspires this painting.
