This piece reenacts two events that frames the beginning and the ending of Japanese Colonial Period in Korea (1910-1945): Haircut Decree in 1895, carried by pro-Japanese Korean government that forced Koreans to cut their hair and the Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 which brought the nation independence. Juxtaposing historical narratives has allowed me to synthesize perspectives and close-viewings of how it impacts the current world politics. By portraying these multi-layered documents, I aim to explore how to locate my identity as a Korean-American immigrant and the meaning of historical objectivity.
