About Artist
Dahyun Kim is a Seattle-based artist, currently studying Visual Arts at Cornish College of the Arts at Seattle University. His works have been nominated and premiered in Sea-Tac International Airport Film Installation (Seattle, WA) and ETHOS Film Festival (Santa Monica, CA). He is the recipient of Syvilla Fort Scholarship (2024 & 2025), Sherry Raisbeck Endowed Scholarship (2024 & 2025), and Pilchuck Glass School Scholarship at Cornish College of the Arts at Seattle University (2025).
Statement
I use mediums from video, sculpture to installation to explore instability of institutional spaces. I am interested in spaces that demand high level of maintenance and traffic, where the the inner workings and surrounding conditions remain less visible to viewers. By juxtaposing found and personal documentations, my work considers how those opposing qualities coexist in lived experience and expose how such order can be disrupted by its own mortality and structure.
